Math Lessons on Youtube-

This is a resource everyone uses, including me. When I don’t understand a concept in math or any other subject I research it in YouTube and suddenly videos of people explaining the concepts come up.  For example the link below is a video showing an explanation for Quadratic functions, this was submitted by someone who has a wide variety of videos giving math lessons and explaining different concepts.
This is a very good source because it explains the concepts step by step showing it in front of you with someone explaining what they are doing, and if you still don’t understand you can look up for more videos since there are a lot of people who post videos showing different topics and concepts. Also since it is a video you have the opportunity to stop it and repeat it how many times you like therefore it is not like a class than when it is over it is over, you can repeat it as many times you want. As a result of all of this advantages many different people use YouTube as a way of educating themselves about different concepts that they did not understand in class.

The person using this resource would only need to have internet and a computer with sound available in order to listen for the explanation. High school students and college students are the ones who would mainly use YouTube as a way of explaining concepts. This is because as I mentioned before some of us don’t understand the concepts taught on class and we are to afraid to ask on class or the teacher explains to fast therefore it is difficult to understand and because of this we go into YouTube and research the concept and we find people who have filmed themselves teaching this concept.

I would totally recommend this source, this is something I use to do homework’s or to study for exams and then I do the study guide. People who do not like to ask in class or go to office hours and find a concept difficult should definitely use this resource. It is very helpful.

Math is fun- Website

On the other hand we also have resources for not as hard concepts as what students in college learn. The website I have posted below is a very useful website for students from 1st grade to 8th grade. This website is full of games, worksheets, puzzles and even with a dictionary for words you might not understand in math. Underneath there is also a link for teachers to get suggestions for teaching math in a very interesting and nice way. I really like the website because it is very colorful and full of images therefore it is very interactive and young students will love it. This is a website that shows that Math is fun and that you can learn it in a very interactive and fun way, indeed the website is called Math is fun.

The people using this source will maybe be at a school environment during math class in order to explain the concept and teach students that math can be fun and interesting.  This website contains concepts such as bar graph, balances, box, binomial, therefore this show this is a website specifically for not that older students who are learning the basic math, between 1st grade and 8th grade as I mentioned before.

I would highly recommend this website for teachers in order to find interactive ways and fun ways to teach math, also this would be recommended for children between 1st and 8th grade because they are able to play games and puzzles and do a lot of fun activities that include math concepts so they are not only playing and enjoying themselves but they are also learning.

An App-

Everybody has a smart phone, therefore having an app that contains many formulas, figures, examples, equations and many more is the best. The app Math Ref costs $0.99 but it is excellent. It contains over 1400 formulas, tips, examples of equations and a huge variety of math concepts.  This is a nice way to have also example problems with solutions everywhere you go.

I find this is a very helpful source for students in college or about to graduate in high school because it contain concepts and formulas for difficult math concepts. It is very useful because it is handy, if you are traveling or sitting down and you don’t want to go and get your computer you can open it on the app and you will have examples and a lot of different things. Concepts are difficult as the picture you observe above, therefore it is for educated students.

I would recommend this app because even though it has a cost it is very cheap (like any other app). Moreover it will educated you anywhere you are and it contains not only the concepts and examples but you also have available the solutions. It would be very helpful to study with this app or do a specific homework.

Save the Zogs:

This is an online game about four zogs that are floating around the planet and because of this they need to return and be taken back to their planet. The mission of the player is to take the zogs back to their planet, by creating lines therefore they will be learning as much about linear equations as they can, this is because they will be creating lines that will take the zogs back home.

This is a simple game that helps students understand linear equations, because it is not that difficult students playing this game are not expected to be in college. This is a fun game that will help you learn linear equations, slopes, the x intercept, the y intercept and everything about them.

I would recommend this game because it is fun and you are learning about linear equations. However this game is specifically about linear equations therefore if you want to learn more about other concepts you need to look for other games.

  2. I think it's really good that you can go on youtube and learn so much for free today! It's perfect if you need a refresher of any topics in math... Which can be necessary before you learn something else... :)

  3. Math Ref sounds like a great portable formula sheet which is awesome for everyday situations when you'd need a double check something.

  4. I like watching videos on youtube channels as well. Sometimes they are so helpful depends on the math tutor. This guy is my second choice after khan academy - his name is Patrick and I think he's really good =) https://www.youtube.com/user/patrickJMT
